Definition of Polishing
2022-07-06

Polishing is the process of processing the surface of ceramic products by using the high-speed rotation of various grinding heads of polishing machinery. The polishing process includes: scraping grinding, rough grinding, medium grinding, fine grinding, polishing, edging and chamfering.

Abrasive tools and abrasives used: in addition to diamond for scraping and grinding, silicon carbide powder of various fineness is used in the above processes. When polishing, it is necessary to flush water on the working surface for cooling, so as to take away a large amount of heat generated by the working surface and prevent the products from bursting. After polishing, it also needs to be dried, and the surface is coated with wax or other coatings to enhance its anti fouling ability and improve the gloss of the products.

At present, the polishing process is mainly used for the finishing of ceramic tiles, and a fully automatic polishing machine has been developed.
