What is the Trouble When Using the Diamond Polishing Tools
2019-01-03

Concrete polishing can be done with conventional resin tools or with pads after the grinding and transition stages. However, polishing process is not always going well.

If the diamond tool was not cutting efficiently, you can try to change the procedure systematically. You can drop down to the next grit sequence and consider adding weight to the grinder. If this doesn’t help, switching to a softer bond diamond tool.

If you turn on the grinder and nothing is happening, or the diamond tool is burning too quickly, it may be caused by the bond of tool. If it’s not aggressive enough, you should consider the diamond segment. Tools with fewer segments apply more pressure to the floor. Certainly, there is other situation. The RPM of the machine and walking speed of the operator will also result in the failure of cutting. Normally, the initial grinding should start at 500 rpm and increase as grits become finer, with final polishing at 1,400 rpm. Likewise, the operator should walk more slowly when grinding and more quickly when polishing.

In order to get a consistent finish between the center of the floor and the edges, you have better to use resin polishing tools which it’s easy to match the work of the big grinder with a hand grinder using a pad with the same grit.
